The efficiency of this process is dependent on the production slots that commercial building has, otherwise some time may be lost in-between production. If more items are needed, queue up the remaining items required for the assignment.

Plumbob Points varies based on the type of item and the amount requested. The requirement is only the collection of the items after they are produced, despite the possibly misleading description of the assignment to "Produce and then Collect" items. Time can be saved by producing the items in advance before starting the assignment.

These assignments have a time limit that is the amount of time needed to produce the items, plus a small window of extra time.

Production tasks can manifest in two ways: to produce and collect a certain amount of raw materials from factories or secondary goods from commercial buildings. Not only is there a lot of strategy involved in choosing which tasks to do, which tasks to skip, and how to complete them most optimally, but other aspects come into play too. Tasks are (obviously) central to the Contest of Mayors. If a Mayor has zero points on the leaderboard they are not considered a participant and will not receive a prize. If two Mayors are tied in Plumbob Points, the Mayor who earned the points first will be placed higher. The number of possible winners for each prize varies, depending on the league. This pool is selected based on similar player level and city size. The prize tier is earned by each Mayor's leaderboard placement respective to the other 99 Mayors in the league's pool. For the Town League and higher, the promotion requirement increases to placing in the top 20. Mayors start in the Neighborhood League and can be promoted to the Suburban League by placing in the top 30, or demoted by placing in the bottom 20. There are six leagues in the Contest of Mayors. Depending on how many plumbob points they earn, they may advance to the next league (there are 6) or they may move down a league. Once the contest is over, the mayors are ranked up or down depending on their place. If a mayor runs out of tasks, they can use a special currency called Golden Tickets to get more. Each contest lasts a week and has a limited amount of tasks available. During each contest, each mayor competes against 99 other randomly-selected players all around the same city level. The goal of the Contest of Mayors is to earn plumbob points by completing assignments, which can be selected and done in any order (note: streaks have been added, which give a bonus for completing a predetermined set of tasks).
